Economic Development Division

One of the functions of the Greater Smithfield-Selma Area Chamber of Commerce is to pmote the unique assets of the area to attract, create and expand business opportunies while improving the sell-being of all of its citizens. The Economic Development Division advances commercial, industrial and civic development; encourages the economic and social progress of the Smithfield-Selma; works with city, county and state governments to facilitate the production and distribution of goods and services; and encourages an atmosphere in which private enterprise may operate profitably and efficiently.

The division's committee is not only involved in economic recruitment and retention, but also addresses community marketing and transportation. The Chamber recognizes the importance of working with our neighbors and is involved in a number of regional  organizations.

Some of the programs of the committee include:

Community marketing and public relations
Demographic statistics and research
Economic development recruitment and retention
Transportation issues
