Celebrate the birthday of the USA!

The Smithfield-Selma area honors Independence Day each year with a number of festivals and firerworks dispays. The towns of Smithfield, Selma and Pine Level all host Fourth of July celebrations which are free and open to the public.

FRIENDS OF THE FOURTH IN SMITHFIELD

Activities in Smithfield begin at 5 pm each July 4 on the Town Commons. There's always plenty of food, entertainment and fun for the kids. The celebration concludes with fireworks at 9 pm. The Downtown Smithfield Development Corporation and the Smithfield Parks and Recreation Department organize the event.

SELMA'S ALL AMERICAN FESTIVAL

Over in Selma, Independence Day activities kick off at 12:00 noon with walking tours of the historic downtown district. From 5-9 pm along Railroad Street there's entertainment, food, crafts, a children's area and a finale of patriotic fireworks. The Selma Parks and Recreation Department sponsors the festival.

A PINE LEVEL FOURTH OF JULY

While its small in population, Pine Level has one of the best family-oriented celebrations around. Beginning at 6 pm at Sam Godwin Park, the town hosts softball games, bands, fire truck rides, entertainment and fireworks at dusk.
