Neuse Charter School
At Johnston County's first charter school, children come first. Neuse Charter School in Selma challenges students to apply higher level thinking skills to make decisions and solve problems within a global society.
NCS provides a curriculum aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. All students are given instruction in foreign language. Teachers focus on inquiry-based learning techniques to enhance students' performance. The well respected and performance-proven Paideia teaching model is used, featuring less time in didactic instruction and more time in coached projects and Socratic questioning in a seminar setting.
Officially opened on August 27, 2007, the school offers an international studies focus, including foreign language as early as kindergarten.
Any child who is a legal resident of North Carolina and has not been expelled from another school, is eligible to attend this free public school.
