Conveniently located along North Carolina’s Interstate 95 and U.S. 70, the Smithfield-Selma area offers a wide variety of activities for visitors. With outlets, antiques, attractions and Ava, there’s something fun for everyone.
Shopping is “premium” in the Smithfield-Selma area. Carolina Premium Outlets, an 82-store outlet center, anchors the commercial center of Johnston County. There are some thirteen shopping centers featuring everything from home and garden items to North Carolina’s furniture and food products. In addition, over 25 antique stores line the streets of Uptown Selma.
When you’ve shopped until you’ve dropped, relax at a show of the American Music Jubilee, visit the Ava Gardner Museum, play a round of golf at one of six nearby courses or research your family history at the Johnston County Heritage Center.
Complimenting the many diversions in the area are a number of restaurants and over 1,300 hotel rooms.
If you are making an extended stay, the proximity of the Smithfield-Selma area to both the Blue Ridge Mountains and Atlantic Coast offer an abundance of recreation options. A four-hour drive can take you to the slopes of one of North Carolina or Virginia’s ski resorts. In less than two hours, you can be in Wilmington, basking in the warm sun along the coast. In between are a variety of historical, recreational and educational attractions.
