  • Program Mission

    It is the mission of the Greater Smithfield-Selma Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Program to promote member commitment and retention through the following activities:

    • Raising awareness of Chamber activities and benefits

    • Informing and involving new Chamber members to promote strong continuing membership

    • Encouraging meaningful and beneficial participation in the Chamber's programs

    • Serving as a liaison between the Chamber staff and membership

  • Who are Chamber Ambassadors?

    Ambassadors are dedicated volunteers who donate their time to promote awareness of Greater Smithfield-Selma
    Area chamber events, programs, and services. They visit members, recruit new
    members, attend chamber events, and encourage members to become more involved
    in chamber activities and committees.

    Ambassadors continually strive to improve the level of personal customer service chamber
    members receive and assist members in fully recognizing their benefits of chamber

    Ambassadors serve a one-year term, beginning in January of each year. They may continue
    their service beyond one year if agreed upon by their employer and chamber

    Ambassadors serve on the chamber’s Member Services Committee. Ambassadors meet the second
    Wednesday of each month and receive monthly member contact assignments. They can
    expect to spend 2 to 3 hours per month on their ambassador duties.

  • Ambassador Responsibilities

    • Visit and conduct 2 member interviews each month and report interview information to ambassador chair at the monthly meeting
    • Attend ribbon cuttings, grand openings, and Business After Hours events to greet
    • members and build relationships with new members
    • Volunteer as needed to assist chamber staff at chamber events
    • Recruit new members to join the chamber

      1.  Connecting one-on-one with new and existing Chamber members
      2.  Gaining referral opportunities through other Ambassadors

    • Opportunity to get insider’s perspective of the local business community
    • Opportunity to meet local business and community leaders
    • Opportunity to help the community/show community pride
    • Recognition via “Ambassador of the Year” and “Ambassador Spotlights.”
